Our friends recently moved from Richmond, VA to Seattle (!!!) so I drove up last weekend to take them on one of my favorite hikes near Seattle, Snow Lake. If you’ve been following the blog for awhile you might remember Michael and I did a backpacking trip 4th of July weekend in 2019 past Snow Lake up to Gem Lake.

This past weekend we started at 8am and the parking lot was already full from other day hikers and backpackers who had parked there the night before. The hike headed up was relatively quiet and we enjoyed the scenery coming up out of the pass. At the top of the ridge, snow started covering long sections of the trail which surprised me, but we made it fine without poles or spikes. After enjoying the view at the overlook, we hiked down to the edge of the lake to each lunch and enjoy the views.
